Common Pipistrelle Genome Note
The genome note for the common pipistrelle bat (Pipistrellus pipistrellus) has just been released on Wellcome Open Research: https://wellcomeopenresearch.org/articles/6-117
This genome will be of particular interest to researchers studying the common pipistrelle and it’s close relative the soprano pipistrelle (P.pygmaeus). These two species were formerly believed to be one, and genomic data will be valuable in understanding the divergence between the two species.
This Genome Note is part of the 25 Genomes project, a precursor to the Darwin Tree of Life project led by the Wellcome Sanger Institute.
